The IETF Homenet Working Group has a single focus: the networking environment of home/residential users but it also has a wide scope as it includes: multi-homing, service discovery and naming, security, routing and IP addressing. IPv6 is the main objective but working with the legacy IPv4 protocol is a 'nice to have'. This is mainly work in progress with OSPFv3 being extended to cover auto-configuration and IPv6 prefixes allocations, extension to mDNS (aka bonjour) to support a routed environment. Security and border discovery are the most challenging items.
