Streaming Super-High-Vision with the BBC and NHK - An international networking collaboration

This session will focus the networking challenges of "SHV over IP" technology. The SHV (Super High Vision) is extremely high definition video (8k x 4k resolution). The system, invented by Japanese Broadcasters NHK, is being used by NHK and the BBC to internationally stream the Olympic Games using a combination of R&E networks. The presentations will be on the broad technical details of SHV system and the collaboration between NRENs, secure transmission over IP network including new FEC technology, multi-domain DCN operation collaborating with Internet2 and GEANT. The presentation will also describe issues of national and regional transmission to Public viewing sites across Janet.
