VOOT is about simple lightweight exchange of group information in Identity Federation. Identity Federations provides a layer of authentication provided to end-user services. But as of now, services are left on their own when it comes to authorization and access control. This is typically solved within each application, resulting in groups of users is being redefined again and again. Imagine if you setup a project group in one service, then with a few clicks gives the group of people access to a file archive, mailinglist, wiki and webconference tool. And when a new person is added to the group, it can access all the services immediately. Well, this is what VOOT is about. VOOT is part of the GÉANT Identity Federations working group projects, and is currently considered a research activity. But result and demoes will be presented at TNC2012!
