NET+ Services Aggregation in Higher Education

Internet2 NET+ represents the next stage of IT service offerings that combines the solid foundation of federated identity and middleware work (InCommon) with the scale of national membership of Internet2 to create a platform for community clould service offerings. This session will review the aggregation approach, from single subscription contracts for members (eliminating legal and procurement expenses), customized commercial offerings and purchases at scale for greater discount, along with member to member service offerings allowing the all subscribing campuses to leverage their own capacity as a service provide to the broader community. Case studies of Box.com, HP, and others to be reviewed.



  • Shelton Waggener has been newly appointed as Senior Vice President of Internet2 NET+ after most recently serving as Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer at UC Berkeley since 2005.
