Jeroen Koelemeij

After obtaining his PhD in physics in 2004, Jeroen Koelemeij worked in several research laboratories worldwide, focusing on the use of ultrastable lasers for precision measurement of atoms, molecules and time. He contributed to the development of the aluminum-ion optical clock at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (USA), which is now the most accurate atomic clock to date. In his current position at LaserLaB VU Amsterdam, he is collaborating with several research partners in the Netherlands (including SURFnet) to develop novel methods and applications of extremely accurate time and frequency distribution through optical telecommunication networks.
